FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is an arbitrage bet?

Backing every outcome of an event at prices from different bookmakers so that you profit whichever outcome wins. It is only possible when the implied probabilities add up to less than 100% — 2.10 and 2.05 total 96.40%.

How do you calculate arbitrage stakes?

Split your total stake in proportion to each outcome’s implied probability. $100 across 2.10 and 2.05 means stakes of $49.40 and $50.60, returning $103.73 either way — a profit of $3.73 (3.73%).

Does it work for three-way markets?

Yes — add every outcome. Best soccer prices of 2.20 / 3.80 / 4.50 total 93.99%; $200 split correctly returns $212.78 whichever result happens — a $12.78 profit.

What if the total is over 100%?

Then there is no arbitrage and every split loses money. Two prices of 1.90 total 105.26%: $100 returns $95.00 whatever happens.

Why do arbitrage bets go wrong?

Odds can move before you place both bets, bookmakers may void bets placed at obvious errors, rules can differ (for example extra time), and accounts that arb regularly are often limited. The math is exact; execution is the risk.
